Wet vs Dry Food for Maine Coons: What Works for Floppa
Share
If you’re the proud parent of a Maine Coon, you already know: their appetite is just as majestic as their fluff. In today’s post, I’m sharing exactly what goes into Floppa’s food routine – from carefully chosen wet and dry food combos to the supplements we trust to keep her coat glowing and joints strong.
Floppa’s Daily Feeding Routine
We keep things balanced with a wet + dry combo that supports hydration, digestion, and dental care:
Morning & Evening:
1. Wet Food Rotation:
- Fancy Feast Petites Kitten Tender Pate – Variety Pack (12 ct)
- Fancy Feast Grilled Poultry & Beef Variety Pack (24 ct)
- Fancy Feast Grilled Seafood Variety Pack
These are perfect for hydration and flavor. Floppa loves the seafood ones for variety!
Midday or Night Snack:
2. Dry Kibble Options:
- Royal Canin Maine Coon Breed Kitten Dry Food (3 lbs)
- Royal Canin Maine Coon Breed Adult Dry Food (6 lbs)
The kibble is designed for her large jaw, and it helps reduce tartar build-up while giving her something to crunch.
Hydration is Key: The Water Fountain Trick
Maine Coons love water (sometimes a little too much). Instead of a boring bowl, we use a circulating pet fountain to keep water fresh and encourage more drinking.

Supplements We Trust
Because Maine Coons are larger and have longer fur than most cats, we also support Floppa with:
- Omega-3 & Omega-6 fish oil (for skin + coat)
- Fur-focused multivitamins
- Occasional probiotics when she’s shedding or under stress
I don’t overdo supplements – consistency is key. We hide them in her wet food and she doesn’t even notice.
